PARENT/CAREGIVER SUPPORT SERVICES at
CHILDREN'S CRISIS TREATMENT CENTER

At the present time, the following are available for parents/caregivers of CCTC clients through a grant from the PEW Charitable Trusts.

Parent/Caregiver Support Groups:

Our support groups are designed to allow members to meet in an environment that is caring and non-judgmental. Through weekly meetings members discover that other parents/caregivers are experiencing similar challenges, thus decreasing feelings of isolation. Members are able to gain information and encouragement from each other. New parenting techniques are shared.

Parent/Caregiver Education:

Periodic training sessions are held for parents and Caregivers. These sessions are designed to provide specific information that will increase the parent/caregiver's knowledge base. Topics such as:" Understanding ADHD" and " The use of medication in the management of your child's behavior" are presented in a non-threatening way by experts in these areas of study. Parents are encouraged to ask questions related to their child's specific issues. Certificates of completion are awarded.

Parent/Caregiver Advisory Board:

Parents/Caregivers who exhibit interest and leadership ability will be encouraged to participate in our Parent/Caregiver Advisory Board. The purpose of the Board is to elicit feedback from the consumers of our services. This will enable CcTC plan for future services and expansion with a clear vision of what will be most beneficial to our consumers. This is one of the ways we are encouraging the empowerment those who receive services from our agency.
