PARENT / CAREGIVER SERVICES

CcTC has a family-focused, consumer-driven treatment philosophy. This family-oriented approach encompasses parents and caregivers in all phases of their child's treatment and includes direct services to parents and caregivers.

Filial Parenting Program

CcTC's Filial Parenting Program is based on a research-supported model that emphasizes the parent-child relationship as a means of providing support. In the Filial Parenting Program, parents/caregivers learn to conduct a special type of play session with their own children. Play is the natural language of children and is therefore an excellent medium for parents/caregivers to engage their children in order to enhance their relationship with them. Through this model, parents/caregivers learn to be more aware of their children developmentally, emotionally, and relationally. Children respond positively to the sessions both at the Center and in the home since the method is based on child-directed play techniques.

The program runs in 12-week cycles and it is held weekly on Wednedays for 2.5 hours. Dinner is provided as well as SEPTA tokens. Babysitting for children 2 years and up is available. Upon completion of the program parents/caregivers will receive a toy kit and a program certificate.

Our Next Cycle: September 9, 2010 - December 16, 2010 (Thursdays from 4-6pm)
