PARENT / CAREGIVER SERVICES

CcTC has family-focused, consumer-driven treatment philosophy. This family-oriented approach encompasses parents and caregivers in all phases of their child's treatment and includes direct services to parents and caregivers.

Caring Families of CcTC
CcTC has recently developed a Consumer Advisory Group called The Caring Families of CcTC. This group is comprised of parents/caregivers who have received or are currently receiving services at CcTC as well as young adults who have previously received services at CcTC. This group is advising on and participating in ways to enhance CcTC's services, addressing any gaps in services as well as taking part in the many facets of our organization such as CcTC community events and CcTC committees. The Caring Families of CcTC is currently working on developing an orientation for families new to CcTC, monthly peer support groups and a peer mentorship program. They are engaged in community outreach efforts by conducting informational sessions at a variety of neighborhood locations in order to inform communities about the CcTC and its services.

Filial Parenting Program
CcTC's Filial Parenting Program is based on a research-supported model that emphasizes the parent-child relationship as a means of providing support. In the Filial Parenting Program, parents/caregivers learn to conduct a special type of play session with their own children. Play is the natural language of children and is therefore an excellent medium for parents/caregivers to engage their children in order to enhance their relationship with them. Through this model, parents/caregivers learn to be more aware of their children developmentally, emotionally, and relationally. Children respond positively to the sessions both at the Center and in the home since the method is based on child-directed play techniques.

The program runs in 12-week cycles and it is held weekly for 2.5 hours. Dinner is provided as well as SEPTA tokens. Babysitting for children 2 years and up is available. Upon completion of the program parents/caregivers will receive a toy kit and a program certificate.
