SANCTUARY

CcTC is a trauma-informed organization, committed to establishing a culture within which healing from traumatic experiences can occur. CcTC is implementing The Sanctuary Model ®, an evidence-supported organizational approach for creating a safe environment for the children and families we serve and the staff who serve them. CcTC embraces the Seven Commitments of the Sanctuary Model in order that this trauma-informed approach to our work is embedded in every facet of our organization.

1. Culture of Nonviolence - building and modeling emotional, moral, social and physical safety skills.

2. Culture of Emotional Intelligence - teaching and modeling affect management skill.

3. Culture of Inquiry & Social Learning - building and modeling cognitive and problem solving skills.

4. Culture of Shared Governance - creating and modeling participatory leadership that promotes shared decision making, negotiation, and compromise.

5. Culture of Open Communication - overcoming barriers to healthy communication, reducing acting-out, enhance self-protective and self-correcting skills, teach healthy boundaries.

6. Culture of Social Responsibility - rebuilding social connections skills and working for social justice.

7. Culture of Growth and Change - restoring hope, meaning, and purpose.
