Services are provided on-site and skills for success are reinforced directly within the school environment. Children Achieving through Re-Education (CARE): The CARE program uses a classroom re-education model which is based on an ecological philosophy that children’s disruption is related to the stress placed on him/her by their environment. This program develops a better fit between the child and the environment through the use of positive behavioral support aimed at teaching cognitive and behavioral skills while providing individualized instruction. Consultation & Education Program (C&E): CcTC’s C&E program provides short-term preventative case management services in Philadelphia public schools. The C&E specialists serve children who suffer or are at risk of suffering from behavioral health problems. Intensive Case Management (ICM): The Intensive Case Management program provide direct services to children ages 3 to 18 who display serious emotional disturbances. ICM works to ensure that children and their families utilize natural supports, as well as traditional and non-traditional community resources to develop appropriate relationships with family and caregivers. Services include assessment and evaluation of medical, family and educational history, support network and resource building for the child and family, and child and system advocacy. Summer Therapeutic Enrichment Program (STEP): The Summer Therapeutic Enrichment Program is a therapeutic/recreational summer camp that serves children between the ages of 5 and 13. The camp provides children with a safe environment where they can develop and practice needed social skills. Most of the children have been denied access to other summer camps due to behavior and emotional difficulties in the past. In STEP, all children successfully complete the 7-week program, learn valuable skills, and explore community options. Most importantly, they have the opportunity to enjoy childhood activities as others do while at the same time receiving art, dance/movement, and recreational therapies. Family-Based Program: The Family-Based Program offers team-delivered services rendered in the home and community. These short-term, intensive services are designed to integrate mental health treatment, family support services, and routine case management. By taking this approach the program aims to enable families to continue to care for their children with serious emotional disturbances at home, therefore reducing the need for out of home placement. |
