CCTC Workshop: “The Talk”: Addressing Community Violence and Trauma with Your Children Register

Featuring Leah Brogan, PhD and Jacqueline Kendrick, MSW, LCSW; Violence Intervention Program, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
This workshop will provide parents/caregivers with foundational knowledge regarding trauma and traumatic reactions (i.e., posttraumatic stress). Specifically, CHOP will cover how trauma may present in children and adolescents following exposure to and/or involvement in community violence and/or other adverse events.
CHOP will provide attendees with strategies for effectively responding to children and adolescents following community violence and/or trauma exposure and how to create open, safe, and supportive environments in the wake of violence and/or trauma.
Finally, CHOP will provide attendees with resources for families following community violence exposure (e.g., community based mental health and violence mediation
This workshop is free and available to everyone, although pre-registration is required.
