When a Pet Dies: Helping Families Navigate Grief Together Register
Losing a pet is often a child’s first experience with death, and it can be deeply painful and confusing. This workshop is designed to help parents and caregivers talk with children about pet loss in honest, age-appropriate, and supportive ways. We’ll explore how grief shows up at different child ages, how to discuss and prepare for end-of-life decisions for your pet, and how to create space for children (and adults) to express their emotions in healthy ways. This session will also provide resources for managing your own grief while supporting your child through theirs.
Presented by Alea Cummings, MSW, LCSW, Associate Director of Wellbeing & Veterinary Social Worker & Ella Chasan LSW, CVT, Penn Vet’s Ryan Hospital
THIS WORKSHOP IS FREE and available to everyone, although pre-registration is required. Most CCTC workshops can be used for one hour of Parenting Education credits. This workshop will be presented in English.
